Day 1 - The Day I Began Living

A few weeks ago, before I saw FSND, I set an appointment with a thyroid specialist that's supposed to be one of the few doctors who really know how to handle hypothyroidism.  I decided that I would go to the appointment today and tell him my plan, and ask if he would like to experiment with me.  I was a tad bit naive.  He was dubious and dismissive, but basically said, "Well you might as well try it."  Dripping from that statement were the unsaid words, "Obviously nothing else is working for you, you fat, fat, fatty, so please, try your 'veggie juice' and come back here when you've failed."  He wanted to do a bunch of blood tests, and that was fine with me because I would want, at the end of this crazytrain, proof of my success in the form of actual blood levels.  If my astounding weight loss, glowing skin, and possession of more than 100 hairs on my head wasn't enough, at least he'd have test results to compare.

Thank God I was sufficiently joyful and pumped up to begin my juice fast that he only dampened my enthusiasm a little bit.  However, since my doctor's office was in the part of town with Whole Foods, I left the office and went to purchase my five days of organic fruits and veggies to "eat into" the juice fast.  I got muscadines, scuppernongs, figs, gala apples (they didn't have Granny Smith!  Can you believe it!), cucumbers, and green, yellow, and orange peppers.  A bit too heavy on the fruits, but they are my favorites and are only in season about one month out of the year.

I had been fasting since 9:00 p.m. last night in case he did want to do blood work so I was starving.  I ate figs and muscadines on the drive home.  I finished the little package and ate some apples later.  Apples tend to make me hungrier, but I managed.  I still have to find a juicer.

I can do this.
